Bummed Chuck Palahniuk out today. I take great pride in this -- I'm not ashamed to admit it :). This afternoon before dinner we brainstormed a novel he wants me to write this fall. Title: Paradise.

Went to the Naomi Novik reading tonight. She read a fun story that will appear in Dozois' Dragons anthology. It was an entertaining evening, especially when the zombies showed up.

Seriously, zombies in Seattle. I can go home a happy woman.

I wrote a story that was so sad that he couldn't stop telling me how sad it was, particularly since I have a great sense of humor and am really funny (according to him). It was so sad that his biggest piece of counsel was to write this novel and to have fun with it, and to just have fun writing in general.

Funny thing is I had an awesome time writing it. I was on cloud nine when I was finished. But it was so bloody sad :).

Jeez, seriously. For the entire conference Chuck'd be talking about something or I'd be saying something, and then he'd look at me and say something like, "It's just so sad. Why was it so sad?"
