Last week I wrote a short horror story titled "The Wood and the Brass". It's about idolatry and music. And it rocks :D. Well, it sort of rocks. I thought it turned out well, but after I submitted it, I started realizing some plot issues I'd meant to clarify while trying to go to sleep. Oh well. It's not like I'm well-known or famous, so what reputation is there to ruin? ;p In any event, I can fix it after it's rejected.

What else?

Oh yes, this week I've been working on some short short shorts and a short story, tentatively called "Ladder of Angels". More space elevator to the moon with college and drag queens and love thrown in.

This one will be for Alan -- 5/1/73 -- 8/4/98. Be free.

Tonight we're going to the mountains/woods to eat around a campfire and have a wild time with good friends Randy and Lacy. Steaks in the bag, pineapple-upside down cake in the oven, potatoes and onions and corn ready to be roasted. Bring it on, yo! It's time for some fun!

For me it takes Herculian efforts to write even a rough draft of a story in a week's time.

Ah, thank you for that. That makes me feel better.

Most times I work very, very slowly, letting my stories simmer in the back of my head. Sometimes they flood out in a few hours. (I think the shortest time it's taken me to write a story was about four hours, but I'd been thinking about it for about 2 1/2 years.) I get a little frustrated somtimes with how long it can take me to write.

Now I know I'm not alone :).
