This morning is brought to you by Roxy Music, lemon ginger tea, and lovely Idaho fall weather.

See that? Things are finally getting back to some semblance of normal.

Things will never be as they were before Easter Sunday evening 2008 when Leslie called to ask if I still wanted to come to Seattle, and they will particularly not be the same as they were before June 20th, 2008 when I arrived in Seattle, but I'm striving for some sense of comfort and normalcy so I can accomplish what needs to be done.

We're hitting the ground running today. It's Avadore's first day of first grade, and, as a result, there has been much excitement today.

As for me, when not playing with Fox, I have two letters to write, a draft of a letter to work on, two e-mails to respond to, two resume's to work on, some research for my current WIP, and some fiction writing to tackle. There will also be a trip to the park where Fox and I will run and play. Of course, there's the usual household maintenance to deal with. I've also decided to dump Latin for the time being and study Spanish since it's a much more, ahem, useful language.

It's either that or hook up the cable and watch soap operas and eat Ben and Jerry's.

Yeah, I don't believe it, either.

I also want to note that, in addition to the usual household stuff, some things never change:

"I saw you talkin' to Christopher Walkin on my T.V. screen," is still one of the best lyrics ever.

This afternoon is brought to you by The Killers and more lemon ginger tea.

In addition to letters written, E-mails sent, research done, and resume's poked at, and fun had with Fox, I have also proofed an academic paper for a friend.

Note for anyone who may not already know this:

When someone you've asked to proofread your work points out your liberal use of commas, the correct response is not, "But I like my punctuation. I like my punctuation just fine." :)

Strunk and White is your friend. Just sayin'.

Every time someone tells me that The Killer's Sam's Town, and "When You Were Young" in particular, makes them think of me I smile. I smile a lot.
