And you never got to see me wind up :).

It's been a busy time here. Very, very busy.

This week has been full of writing. I have averaged over 4,000 words a day and have essentially written two short stories. The first one will be trunked and used for future reference, the second is complete.

Amazingly enough, since my energies were focused on the children and the laptop, the house hasn't fallen apart. Today will be dedicated to some editing and to straightening up, though, happily enough, there isn't that much to straighten. I may also cook a big pot of something -- perhaps I'll saute a bunch of vegetables, until they carmelize, and then make a thick soup or stew out of them. I believe I'll also make a stir fry with broccoli, sugar snap peas, mung bean sprouts, and tofu. Leftovers are a good thing.

I have, once again, come to the realization that it's likely that my husband should be the one writing the stories in the family. He has a good understanding of story and working with the reader to create a great experience. He says it comes from all those years (many, many years) of being a GM. And he was a fine GM. He had his players in his hand, and he would turn them, and twist them, and everyone would follow along with absolute delight.

Ah well, it gives me such fine pleasure to write them myself.

I have had him look at a couple of stories of mine after I've finished with zero draft. He's picked them apart, and I've completely rewritten both of them. I think they've both been much better for it. The first one sold, instantly, to a fine publication. The second one was sent out last night. He's a resource I don't use enough. He's so busy with work that I hate to bother him, but, as of yet, he doesn't seem to mind.

Anyway, this is me, popping in, saying why yes, I'm still quite alive, and have been making story. (Novel, too, but that's another post entirely.)
