Sep. 27th, 2005 09:02 pmI just received the most special package today: My copy of Theodora Goss' The Rose in Twelve Petals and Other Stories arrived today from Small Beer Press, which is run by Kelly Link and Gavin Grant. Also, there are illustrations by Charles Vess.
It is beautiful! It is a delight! It may be better than Belgian chocolate. (It will certainly last longer and it's less fattening.) And it's signed by Ms. Goss!
Small Beer Press is just one of the fabulous small presses that are turning out some incredibly original work that one won't find at their local Waldenbooks or Barnes and Noble or Borders (or at least the ones around here).
Really, I think the small presses and the independent bookshops are the place to find the best stuff to read.
I bought a wonderful little book. Go and do likewise.
