Working on the new short story, "Latter of Angels". Had some "revelations" last night while trying to go to sleep. Why is it that my muse always seems to find me late at night while I'm in bed?
My brand new on-line writing group starts this Friday, and my submission is up first. I haven't actively participated in any writing groups since about a month before the baby was born, so I'm excited about getting back into the swing of things.
I was invited to participate in this group around the beginning of the year, so it has been a long time in coming. Three of the other writers are graduates of Orson Scott Card's Bootcamp, which was held in Orem, Utah this year. A few of us have at least one publication credit under our belts, so we're all starting out together. We're focusing on short stories, though the occasional novel chapter is welcome.
I will either submit three short, short, short stories or the new short story if it is finished and in a decent state come Friday.
In other exciting writing news, I received a 61 day "sorry" from the novel contest for Prickings. Not a surprise in the slightest. It's not like horror/mystery/conspiracy theory books are high-quality children's literature. It felt good to submit it and felt good to hear from them. It felt like a milestone to have not only written a children's novel, but to have submitted it and had an editor look at it, even if my chances at publication via the contest were nil.
Next time we may enter something more appropriate to the contest and send Prickings to a more appropriate market.
